Laser aftercare: the first 48 hours, and the weeks after

Simple steps that protect your skin and get the best from every session.

Good aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference to how your skin feels and how well your course works.

The first 24 to 48 hours

  • Some redness or a warm, sunburn-like feeling is normal and usually settles within a few hours.
  • Avoid heat: hot baths, saunas, steam rooms and the gym.
  • Skip perfumed products, deodorant (for underarms) and make-up (for the face) for 24 hours.
  • Don't scratch or exfoliate the area.

In the weeks between sessions

  • Wear SPF 30 or higher on treated skin every day.
  • Avoid sunbeds and fake tan, especially in the two weeks before your next session.
  • Shave if you need to, but don't wax, pluck or thread. The follicle needs to stay in place for laser to work.

Hair 'growing back' after a session?

Treated hairs shed over two to three weeks after a session, and it can look like regrowth while they work their way out. That's normal. Gently exfoliating from a few days after treatment can help them along.
